The Predator has very good detail. Its sturdy. I hard a tuff time figuring out where all his weapons get placed. No notes. Also I mistakenly cut his whip thinking it was part of the packaging..doh The 2 lasers go on the shoulder. You need to look for 2 holes and firmly press the pin into them. You can also remove the hands and replace it with the one provided. Again the hand is firmly placed so turn it a few times and pull. Also theres a piece that looks like the back of an armadillo. The piece goes on the Predators back.
I would have wished that there was more mobility on the legs so he he can posed lets say bending down.
Otherwise its a great action figure if youre into this sort of stuff.
I was extremely pleased upon receiving both my masked and unmasked AVP:R predator. I thought the detailing was beautiful and very thorough right down to the weaponry! It is from looking at these figures that I finally realized that yes, the predator in the movie did have two different colored eyes!
My only quibble with this is that both figures are hard to stand up on their own. I have to apply tape to the bottoms of their feet to keep them upright even with numerous shiftings of the pose.
As well, one of the cannons will not fit in its slot because the hole isn’t big enough for the end of the cannon and so sits off to the side, collecting dust.
I was disappointed with that as I thought having the predator posing with two cannons was very cool.
Flaws aside, this is a figure definitely worth purchasing! I will be looking forward to seeing the next generation of predator figures!
This action figure stands over 6″ tall and is pretty cool to set up with dual knife blades out and throwing star in hand. It is very detailed and I was surprised! So over all it’s cool but not very poseable.
The series 2 unmasked Predator from the NECA AVP:R movie line does indeed look good on display. The sculpt is fantastic and the paint is, for the most part, well done. The texture achieved looks fabulous, and when exposed to a light source, the shadows from all angles add a superb depth to the figure. The hair has several individually molded dreads, giving it a sense of real movement and realism. The detail on the face is immaculate.
The figure includes two left hands: one open and one closed in order to hold the optional whip accessory (made of soft plastic).
There are some issues with the figure, and some may find they detract from the overall value:
There is a glaring flaw in the pain application that is immediately visible on the forehead of all figures. Because the front of the face is painted as a separate piece from the rest of the head, and glued on afterwards, the lighter skin tone of the front forehead hits the much darker skin tone of the back portion. In effect you have a big line of paint inconsistency in every figure.
The poseability on the figure is highly limited. There is articulation at the neck, shoulders, left wrist, waist, hips, knees and ankles. No elbow movement means arms are locked in a static pose. To further hamper this, a very short plastic hose from the chest armor is attached to the left shoulder plate, allowing that arm to be raised only very slightly without breaking the hose intentionally.
Due to the cut hip joints, the figure will only stand up one way. The ankle and knee joints then serve only to weaken the structure. This leads to heavy sagging, leaning, and eventually toppling over as the joints become weaker due to the top-heavy weight. The included display base is extremely small and does little to keep the figure stable.
NECA has since produced variants of the basic figure, and while they have addressed the hairline paint application issue in the newer series, the balance and weak lower joint problems still persist.
You can find other figures in the AVP:R line that are bloody (glowing green blood), have different facial expressions, or both. The newest releases also have more accessories including chestburter aliens and facehuggers.
NECA has since proven they can make a much better figure with more bang for your buck.
AVP R (requiem) unmasked predator . This is this best sculpt of any previous character in any of the 4 movies, including McFarlane’s work. Every detail is followed on the Wolf predator, even to his broken left upper tusk (which was possibly lost in a previous hunt). It,s durability is not something I can judge, it,s heavy but I am not prone to break my any of my collection just to test it. The articulation , which is not skimpy is also not what some may like, but to catch this great skulpt in all it,s Glory is worth the trade off!
